Kennedy Dance Theatre is now offering Ballroom
and Salsa Dancing.
Instructor Ms. Kelly Felix began ballroom dance lessons as a high
school student in Boston. She was associated with Fred Astaire
Dance Studios for over twenty years as a teacher, regional dance
director for New York and Pennsylvania, and Assistant Dance
Director. As a member of the national Dance Board, Ms. Kelly
traveled and coached amateur and professional competitive dance
couples. She has been seated on numerous judging panels including
United States Ballroom Championships. Ms. Kelly has also performed
as choreographed for television including History of Dance for
PBS.

Course Description

| Ballroom |
| Basic
Ballroom Dance Session I |
An
introduction to the foxtrot, waltz, and swing.
Besides learning the basic steps in each dance, students will
learn techniques for partnership, proper leg action, and how to
listen to the music and identify the various rhythms. This class
is open to all, even those with two left feet! |
| Basic
Ballroom Dance Session II |
Features the
basics in foxtrot, rumba, cha-cha, and meringue. As in Session I,
students will learn techniques for good partnership, proper, and
how to listen for the beat. Latin hip action will be introduced.
Session I and Session II are interchangeable. A student may enter
either one first. At the end of these sessions you will be able to
go out dancing using the basics in six dances and have lots of
fun!! |
| Salsa |
| Salsa
class features Rumba, Meringue, and Mambo. As well as learning the
basic steps in each of these dances, techniques for good
partnership and proper leg action will be presented. Emphasis will
be on Latin hip action and listening for Latin beat!! |
| Pricing |
Each
six-week class is $60.00 per person or $100.00 per couple
Salsa classes will be on Sat. Evening from 5:00-6:00, beginning
TBA
Ballroom I classes will be on Sat evening from 6:00-7:00,
beginning TBA
Ballroom II classes will be on Sat. evening from 7:00-8:00,
beginning TBA |
| Attire |
| There
is no required dress code, but if possible please wear leather
soled shoes that are not backless (no flip flops or running
shores) |

Childcare will be provided at the studio for
$5.00 per child during each class
(reservations are required before the night of the class. you
must call to confirm)
