CLASSES
Graded Program Levels 1-6-Ballet, Tap, & Jazz
Classes are designed for the serious experienced student. Auditions are required for placement. Classes are held from 2 to 5 days per week based on age and ability, and are designed to challenge the students technically as well as provide a disciplined environment. Dress code is mandatory and regular attendance required. (2 consecutive absences result in probationary membership.) All missed classes must be made up. **A ballet class at some level is required for any participation in the Graded Jazz program. With teacher approval “Tap only” may be taken. Students are highly encouraged to attend classes in all three major dance disciplines.
Pointe Levels 1-3
For the student who is technically capable and physically developed has the option of participating in Pointe classes as part of their Vaganova training. Prerequisite: enrolled in the Graded Ballet Program.
Pre-Professional Level
Pre-Professional level is designed to further the student’s education in Vaganova Ballet. Featured in the Prerequisite: enrollment in level 4 or higher in the Graded Ballet Program.
Lyrical Levels 1 & 2
A modern dance form that fuses modern dance, jazz, ballet, and the interpretation of a song’s lyrics. Prerequisite: enrolled in the Graded Program.
Hip Hop Company Levels 1 & 2
The latest “Funk” jazz style. This group performs for various community performances throughout the year and attends dance competition during the spring semester. Prerequisite: enrolled in the Graded Program.
Free Christian Lyrical
For students wanting to pursue dance as a ministry. This class may include jazz, ballet, and lyrical. Prerequisite: enrolled in the Graded Program.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
Rockets Halftime Show
A jazz/hip hop routine is performed annually at the Rockets Halftime Show at the Toyota Center. Prerequisite: enrolled in the Graded Jazz Program.
Holiday in the Park Parade
A jazz routine set to holiday music and performed for the Holiday in the Park Parade held in League City, TX down Main Street. Prerequisite: enrolled in the Graded Jazz Program.
Nutcracker
“The Nutcracker” is presented every year during KDT’s annual Holiday Show. Auditions are held during the fall semester. Prerequisite: enrolled in the Graded Ballet Program.
“Enchanted Evening”
Each year auditions are held for the production of a classical ballet such as Coppelia, Giselle, and Don Quixote, or a formal concert of contemporary, classical, and modern pieces which are performed at “Enchanted Evening” during the spring semester. Prerequisite: enrolled in the Graded Ballet Program.
TNT Tappers Tap Company
Texas New Tap(TNT) Tap Company is a group of advanced tap students who will participate in the Space City Tap Fest weekend of classes and perform at the closing concert, as well as performing for many of the community press appearances associated with the festival. Prerequisite: enrolled in the Graded Tap Program.
